May McAvoy (1899–1984) était une actrice américaine du cinéma muet, connue pour ses rôles dans Ben-Hur (1925), L’Éventail de Lady Windermere (1925) et Le Chanteur de jazz (1927). Elle participa aussi aux débuts du cinéma parlant. Contrairement aux rumeurs, elle n’a pas quitté le cinéma à cause d’un problème de voix, mais après son mariage. Elle revint plus tard pour de petits rôles, jusqu’à une dernière apparition en 1959. Elle est décédée en 1984 et possède une étoile sur le Hollywood Walk of Fame.
